Welcome
The Special Education Leadership Council was presently formed by a group of Special Education parents with the purpose of helping and supporting leaders of other Special Education Parent groups. Currently all of our Parent groups are located in New Jersey.
Some of the co-operative efforts of Special Education Leadership Council are:
- Maintain a master calendar listing meetings of ALL the special ed support groups.
- Speaker's Bureau - A directory of speakers on a variety of Special Needs topics
- Identifying systemic problems in the Special Education system.
- Sharing articles on various special education related topics for our newsletters.
- Getting more representation on state and county education groups (such as PTA's, PTO's etc.).
- Outreach to other spec ed groups, so please forward this to other interested parties.
- A Web site and listserv to allow us to communicate and share information.

Mission Statement
The Special Education Leadership Council of New Jersey is a cooperative effort dedicated to empowering leaders of Special Education Parent Groups, enabling them to provide effective, quality, services and programs to their members and build new parent leaders within their groups. We will accomplish this by;
- Identifying and sharing best practices within parent support groups;
- Facilitating collaboration amongst leaders of the Special Education Parent Groups in New Jersey through the sharing of group newsletters, calendars, activities and speakers bureau information via internet-based electronic communications and quarterly meetings;
- Advocating for improvements in the New Jersey educational system;
- Seeking accountability from the local, state, and federal governments on matters related to education of students with disabilities.
