Welcome
The Special Education Leadership Council was presently formed by a group of Special Education parents with the purpose of helping and supporting leaders of other Special Education Parent groups. Currently all of our Parent groups are located in New Jersey.
The GOAL of the Special Education Leadership Council is to help and support leaders of
Special Ed Parent groups so their organizations can provide more services and programs to its
members.
- Membership to Special Education Leadership Council is open to all leaders of a Special
Education Parent group, without regard to its official or legal distinction. (i.e. the group
can be a PTA, PTO or some informal group of parents.).
- Special Education Leadership Council will accomplish their goal through a series of co-
operative efforts. Individual members and organizations are free to participate in as many
or as few of these efforts as they wish.
- Special Education Leadership Council will not make any decisions that will bind individual
members or organizations.
Some of the co-operative efforts of Special Education Leadership Council are:
- Maintain a master calendar listing meetings of ALL the special ed support groups.
- Speaker's Bureau - A directory of speakers on a variety of Special Needs topics
- Identifying systemic problems in the Special Education system.
- Sharing articles on various special education related topics for our newsletters.
- Getting more representation on state and county education groups (such as PTA's, PTO's etc.).
- Outreach to other spec ed groups, so please forward this to other interested parties.
- A Web site and listserv to allow us to communicate and share information.
